Professional Enthusiast of
Very Old Things

Hi, I'm Dr. Laura Horan-Pham, an art historian, writer, and professional enthusiast of very old things.

I earned my PhD in Art History from University of California, Los Angeles, where I specialized in Late Antique and Byzantine art. These days, I write about medieval monuments, ancient cities, museum collections, and the occasionally questionable decisions made by emperors, bishops, and wealthy patrons over the last two thousand years.

My goal is simple: to make art history accessible, engaging, and useful for curious travelers, students, and anyone who has ever wandered into a church, museum, or archaeological site and wondered, "What's the story here?"

When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me exploring historic sites, digging through archives, or convincing unsuspecting family members to visit "just one more basilica.”
